Dave Portnoy, the owner, and founder of Barstool Sports, criticized his employees as “brain-dead” just one day after reclaiming ownership of the sports media company from PENN Entertainment.
Portnoy announced in an “emergency press conference” on Tuesday that he was returning as the sole owner of Barstool for the first time in nearly a decade after PENN decided to sever ties with the company and hand control back to him.
A day after finalizing the Barstool Sports acquisition deal, Portnoy arrived in an almost empty office at Barstool’s New York headquarters and quickly began a profanity-laden tirade.
Portnoy published a blog post titled “How F***ing Brain Dead Are All My Employees,” blaming his employees for not showing up to the office in the morning after he bought back the company.
“Not My Barstool” is a satirical take on Portnoy’s reacquisition of Barstool Sports and suggests his desire to step away from the company quickly.
However, the red-crossed “Not” in “Not My Barstool” supports Portnoy and agrees that some employees act foolishly by not showing up on time.
